Born in Australia to a German mother and Australian father, I grew up bilingual. My schooling (in Australia) was all in English and I am therefore a native English speaker. I have lived in Germany since 2010 and started working as a freelance translator in 2011.
I also have a strong background in Mandarin Chinese through university (B Arts International Studies with Mandarin major), 1 year full-time Mandarin studies in China and ongoing studies.
Employment:
- Since 2011: Full-time freelance translator for a number of clients and agencies.
- 2009 – 2010: Around-the-world trip that included around 20 countries. Weekly blog and photographs.
- 2008: Manager for the subsidiary of Intrepid Travel in Japan. Based in Tokyo.
- 2005-2007: Tour leader in China and Japan for Intrepid Travel.
Education:
- 2004: Overseas study year in China, full-time Mandarin studies in Taiyuan.
- 2000-2004: B Management (Tourism)/B Arts International Studies (Mandarin major) from the University of Sydney, Australia, graduating with honours.
- Primary and high school in Sydney, Australia.
